Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Severe Cough After Alcohol Consumption?
I drink alcohol very often and have been for many years, I m 33 years old and ive notice the last few weeks that I have been having this cough that won t go away and it only happens when I drink alcohol, when I don t drink alcohol I don t have this problem but like I said this cough just started
I think you may be having gastritis or gastro-esophageal reflux which us made worse because of alcohol consumption. The burning in chest and the return of the contact in esophagus and in the back of mouth can cause cough. Stopping alcohol is advisable because it would be beneficial for overall health.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
