What Causes Severe Cough And Breathing Difficulties In A Patient With Pneumonia?
I was diagnosed with middle lobe pneumonia of the right lung last Wednesday. I have been coughing so hard I think I ve cracked a rib on the left side of my chest. Hurts to breathe/cough/move. Is this simply referred pain or should I have it looked at?
Coughing hard is due to pneumonia. Once totally cleared, you won't have coughing problems anymore. The chest pain is due to both pneumonia and coughing. Take paracetamol and apply cold balm on chest. If there is still no improvement, should get back to your caring doctor to check the changes and consider changing therapy. Meanwhile, continue taking medications as prescribed by your doctor. Aerosol therapy with saline solution and Beclometasone can be of great help.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
