What Causes Severe Cough And Breathing Difficulty After Taking Carafate?

After taking all of my prescriptions for my Asthma, I was given another medication called CARAFATE 1g/10ml, which I have been taking for one week. It seems as if my Asthma has worsened. I cough terribly, to the point I have problems breathing. I will go to emergency tomorrow, however, is there anything should be aware of so I make it through the night?

Hello,

I don't say it is or it is not, but if you are facing severe breathing troubles I will advise you to stop the medicine for now and wait to see the doctor.

As this drug has some side effects which happens on few and stopping the medicine immediately and meeting up the physician is advised.

If you can then take steam at home and that will help soothe the respiratory system until you meet up the doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
