What Causes Severe Cough And Congestion Despite Taking Prednisone For Bronchitis?

Yes hello, I went to Dr. 4 weeks ago and he said I have Bronchitis and Asthma. He gave me a Z-pack and prednisone. I still am heavy deep coughing, shortness of breath, and congested. It wont go away. Now I have loss of appetite, diarrhea, and night sweats. Is this something that has to run its course? I`am also waking up 2 or 3 times during the night coughing so hard. Thank you, Tired of being sick. Janet P.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
it is better to investigate as your symptoms are not resolving. need to make sure that you do not have coach disease ( tuberculosis) or pneumonia. you may have to undergone blood investigations such as full blood count., esr, crp. better to check your sputam for acid fast bacilli to excludeTb. need to do a chest x ray. so consult a specialized physician. he will arrange above investigations and will treat you accordingly.
