What Causes Severe Cough And Diarrhoea In A 9 Month Old Baby?
My baby is 9 and half months. For last 3 days she has been suffering from fever cough and diarrhoea. Stool almost 8/10 times. Doctor recommended zinconia syrup 5 ml a day along with other medicines. All medicine are okk but after taking zinconia 3ml or 5 ml she starts severe vomitting. Plse advice the remedy.
It is important for the child to be hydrated properly. If he is still breastfeeding please breastfeed him as often as possible. Oral rehydration solutions which are over the counter in pharmacy should be given in frequent small amounts to substitute the fluids and electrolytes he is loosing.
If you think the syrup is causing him the vomiting you can stop it. If the child is losing more fluids with vomiting and diarrhea than he is taking by mouth or he is weak, not interacting as normal, sleepy, he is not passing enough urine, eyes are sunk, etc., he needs to see a doctor as soon as possible. Dehydration is the main risk in children with vomiting and diarrhea and hydrating the child is very important.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Antoneta Zotaj,
