What Causes Severe Cough During Night And Acidity?

Went to see doctor for major flu symptoms. He gave me three day antibiotics and a very strong cough medicine that makes me drowsy. So I took it only a few days and figured I'd rather suffer through it. Now almost two in a half weeks later flu symptoms gone. But only at night extreme coughing that keeps me up at night only and (watery loose mucus.) -do not have stomach acid problems. I just took some mucinex and it doesn't seem to be helping. ehat should I do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, i do care for your concern.
The history said by you suggest more of an gastric acid problem.
i would advise to
1) To start on a antacid such as omiperazole and continue for a full course of 2 weeks.
2) To continue the cough medicine prescribed by your physician and complete the full course.
3) avoid having spicy food and have food at the appropriate time.
following the above would help you a lot in faster recovery of symptoms.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
thank you
