General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Cough can be due to infection(bacterial or viral),allergic or may be there with asthmatic history. Moderate cough does not have bad effect on pregnancy. Try doing gargles, drink warm water. Take over the counter Coscopin cough syrup with warm water twice a day / suck jaggery with turmeric powder made in small balls. It will control mild cough. In case cough is hacking and uncontrolled, there is fever consult your doctor for antibiotics.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
