What Causes Severe Cough With Greenish Phlegm In The Throat While On Zolpidem?

I ve been taking zolpidem for years and about a year ago developed a bad cough with phlegm (yellow, greenish) mostly in the mornings or middle of night but also during the day. I ve seen a pulminologist who did xrays and CT scan. He claims there s something in the right lobe of my right lung according to both xrays and scan. I didn t take my zolpidem last night for the first time in years and today - NO COUGH. Could all this be a result of Zolpidem usage???? I need to know now because I m scheduled for a scope procedure tomorrow! Thanks!!

Hi,
It is just a coincidence that your cough disappeared after stopping zolpidem. A mass in the lung needs thorough evaluation including bronchoscopy, it could be pneumonia or TB or even a malignant growth. You SHOULD continue the pulmonologist's consultation for correct diagnosis and treatment. All the best.
