Hi,
Thanks for your question.
After going through your question, I can understand your concern.
For better opinion I want to know your -
- Age and gender.
- Any associated disorders like diabetes, blood pressure,
cholesterol, kidney,
heart disease.
- Any medicines are you taking.
- Any addiction.
There might be following causes for your symptoms-
1) Electrolytes imbalance like
Hypokalemia (low potassium), hypomagnessemia (low magnessium),
hypocalcemia (low calcium) which may be due to
- Drug induced (Diuretics- water pill)
-
Dehydration : inadequate water intake,
gastroenteritis.
- Vitamin Ddeficiency.
- Kidney problem
2) Painful peripheral neuropathy:
- Diabetic.
- Vitamin B12, D deficiency.
3)
Hypothyroidism.
4) Decreased blood supply to lower limbs due to atherosclerotic narrowing of blood vessels of lower limb as in diabetic, long term blood pressure, cholesterol problem.
In such condition for immediate relief I would have advised -
- Stretching exercise.
- Ice application.
- Drink adequate water.
- Potassium supplement: have banana, citrus fruits like orange, sweet lemon, lemon water with added salt.
In case of no relief and in resistant cases further evaluation needed depending upon clinical examination.
Following investigations may help in diagnosis:
- Renal function test - urea, creatinine, electrolytes.
- Calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, uric acid.
- Liver function test
- Vitamin D levels.
- Vitamin B12 level.
- T3,T4, TSH.
- Lower limb Arterial doppler depending upon clinical evaluation.
Hope this helps you, if so do vote as helpful.
