What Causes Severe Cramps In Hands And Legs?

My husband keeps getting severe cramps in his hands and legs. The hands also lock up where he can t use them. The leg cramps are so bad when they come on that he can t stand or anything for several minutes. What does this sound like to you and what can he do for these problems ?.

I can understand your concern.
Calcium and vitamin d 3 deficiency can cause similar kind cramps.
So better to get done calcium and vitamin d 3 levels and if Deficiency than you will need supplements.
Other causes are hypokalemia (low potassium), hyponatremia (low sodium), vitamin B12 deficiency etc.
So also get done serum Sodium, potassium and vitamin B12 levels and if Deficiency than you will need supplements too.
