What Causes Severe Cramps In The Calf Area?

I am a 42 yer old male that has been suffering from moderate cramping in the right calf region. Also, I have a history of type 2 DM. Although glucose has been controlled on Lantus for several months, all of a sudden glucose reading are 300-400. Cramping and elevated glucose seemed to occur around the same time.

Hello....Your muscle cramping could be due to dehydration which itself causes blood sugars to go up.
You have mentioned that you are taking lantus, which is a long acting preparation of insulin.
It would be helpful if you could mention whether you are taking any other insulin or oral drug along with it. Your blood sugar ranging between 300-400 is very high and puts you at risk for a lot of complications.
It is advisable that you get a complete blood sugar profile ( fasting and post prandial ), HBA1c , Renal function tests and an electrolyte panel. Drink plenty of water and stay well hydrated.
Please visit your diabetologist who will adjust the doses of the medication and add any if required.
Hope this helps....
