What Causes Severe Cramps In The Upper Thigh?

I have been having EXTREME cramping/twisting in my very upper inner left thigh. This always is at night and I have passed out twice now do to standing up trying to walk it off. It is not a normal type of cramp (pressure, rubbing) does not help. I take: Lisinopril 40mg, Atrovastatin Calcum 20mg, Neurotin 300mg x 3, Diltiazem HCI ER Beads 120mg and Magnesium Oxide 500mg. When these episodes occur I put 4 Hyland Leg Cramp tablets under my tongue to try to help. I am concerned after doing a med check that my Atrovastatin and the Diltiazem could be adding to this? My doctor just left the practice so I am waiting on an appointment with our new doctor but the pain during (and the lasting effects after) are something I would like to have information on if possible. I had a child with no meds whatsoever and this is much worse, sweating, passing out, horrible pain, and feeling like the area is tight for days after or bruised. Thank you so very much for any insight.

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hi,

You are on Atorvastatin which causes myalgias meaning muscular pain vis cramps. Thus I advice you to reduce the dose of Atorvastatin and look if pain again occurs.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
