What Causes Severe Cramps, back And Abdominal Pain After Taking Birth Control Pills?

I finally had my period last week, it was very light, but I just started birth control pill in December and had missed my last cycle! I had brownish red blood from Thursday to Saturday last week and then I resumed my scheduled pill on Saturday, hence stopping my period! I am now having very bad cramping in my lower abdomen, lower back and thighs. Could this just be my body getting used to the pill? Or did I perhaps leave a tampon in by accident? Or could I be pregnant? I took 2 home tests a few weeks ago and they were negative! Please help!
