What Causes Severe Depression And Insomnia?

Hello. For the past month or five weeks, I ve been experiencing severe depression and insomnia. In the past four weeks, I have had four nights when I did not fall asleep at all. I think I m showing signs of bipolar disorder. My depression comes and goes in waves. It seems like every three or four months I get hit with a debilitating case of depression and I can t work or even get out of bed some days. I have also been experiencing some issues with sudden muscle twitches and even feel like my brain gets shocked when I try to go to sleep. It is not painful but I m worried.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Sorry to hear about your problem. You are right z depression sometimes may be episodic and may really impair the life.

I understand you need proper evaluation and a detailed management plan.

So please see a physiatrist, who would first assess you by a detailed interview of your symptoms and then he may guide you properly about the management plan. Do not use drugs without prescription.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Mahboob Ur Rahman , General & Family Physician
