I am a 43 year old asthmatic/COPD patient who has been on 50 mg of prednison per day for several months.I cannot take this medicine anymore due to I am going to take my life.I can t live with myself anymore.I am depressed from this medication but it is also keeping me alive.I want to flush it down the toilet.I was told to slowly decrease myself from this. Will I die if I stop taking it?If I continue to take this my emotional state is going to cause me to do something irreversible and it kills me,that my children still need me. Please help, Losing all hope
Prednisone does causes anxiety/depression in some cases. You will never die from stop taking. The steroid is not the dead-end solution as steroid alternatives are there which you can consult with your Physician who has prescribed this, he can slowly taper the drug and replace it.
Remember sudden withdrawal of the drug can cause severe psychological effects so consult with the person who prescribed and explain your symptoms to him. Get well soon.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
