Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Severe Depression With Aggressive Nature?
Good morning For the last month, I have become very depressed and the tears are very close every moment of the day. At times I become aggressive and so worked up that it feels as if I want to explode at the smallest things. It seems all my stress is in my throat, pain and a feeling of my throat compressing. This is the first time in my life that this has happened to me. My doctor has prescribed Stressan and Brintellix 5mg and I have been using the anti depressants for almost a month now, but it feels to me as if nothing has changed. I am 42 years of age and nothing major has changed in my life recently. I have never been a person that discusses my personal issues with anybody, but nothing this major has ever happened to me. It feels as if I am losing my head and all I want to do is crawl into bed and hope nobody finds me there. I have a daughter of 8 and she has been the only thing that calms me and keep me sane. Please help me since this has now started to influence my work as well as my family and friends.
You need to have a close liaison with your psychiatrist. As response to treatment and uptitration of medication accordingly is a must rather than keeping a single regimen on and on. You may need combination of anxiolytics like SSRIs as well as Benzodiazepine for sleep cycle balance and atypical anti-psychotics may also be needed for a while.
All these should be balanced after a follow up. A motivational psychologist review for detailed discussion and behaviour modification etc should be done.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
