What Causes Severe Diarrhea After Taking Colestipol?

I have had colon cancer and have had a right and left colectomy. Consequently, I have frequent diarrhea. It is not IBS. My dermatologist recommended my looking into using colestipol. However, I ve read it is a cholesterol reducing drug. And some the possible side effects seems worse than the original issue. Your thoughts?

diarrhea may be due to surgery after colonic cancer. consult gastroenterologist for examination and advise on treatment you can withdraw the drug and consult onchologist for examination and advise on drug.
