What Causes Severe Diarrhoea Along With Flatulence?

After a gastrointestinal flu with vomiting & diahrrea for 2 days, the diahrrea remains. It is now been 7 days with gassy, black, watery stools, even with diphenoxylate,2.5 mg 2 X/day,started on 4/16/15. My hemorrhoids are bleeding. My stomach is achy,. Diphenoxylate made me nauseous tonite and after 6 hrs , the diahrrea and gas is back. (veg. beef soup & crackers for dinner;cheese pizza slice for lunch). I am afraid I may have C. Diff or internal bleeding. (I have chronic back pain and take 1 Aleve/day for 10 months now. My Dr s apt is 4 days away. Should I see a Dr. immediately?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It is possible that the gastrointestinal flu caused inflammation in the digestive tract, leading to ongoing diarrhea and flatulence. However, given the persistent symptoms and the presence of black, watery stools and bleeding hemorrhoids, it is important to seek medical attention as soon as possible to rule out any serious conditions such as infection with Clostridium difficile or internal bleeding. A healthcare provider can perform tests to determine the cause of the symptoms and provide appropriate treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
