Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Severe Diarrhoea On Intake Of Diary Products?
I get severe diarrhea from almost all dairy products and anything containing whey, cream, milk fat, & dried milk. The only dairy I can eat without having bowl issues is skim milk, American cheese, mozzarella cheese, skim ricotta cheese, and Lactaid 1% milk. I even react when I drink lactose free whole & 2% milk; and hard cheeses (which aren t supposed to have lactose). It seems that only dairy products that contain 1% or less milk fat are the only ones I can eat without spending time in the bathroom after ingesting them. Is this really lactose intolerance or is it something else?
I have gone through your medical history carefully and am sorry for the situation you are in.
Having severe diarrhea when consuming dairy products containing lactose is indicative for lactose intolerance. However, lactose intolerance test is advised to confirm/rule it out.
I advise to avoid all foods/drinks containing lactose until improvement together with starting probiotics.
All the best! Dr.Albana
