Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Good morning Doctor I am a type 2 diabetic and am taking 2 x 500ml metformin and 1 x 20 gm tablet of pantoprazole daily. I am waking up nearly every day feeling dizzy - not faint or sick - just dizzy and off balance a bit when walking. Also a bit of stomach discomfort - cross between heartburn and starving! This all clears as the day goes on. Don t know what any of my blood levels are but am due to go to doctors soon for a check up.
Dizziness is commonly due to dehydration or low blood pressure. Stay well hydrated. Take soups & warm fluids before going for a walk with few biscuits or toast.
Sometimes it is also because of hypoglycemia or anemia. You should get your blood sugar level monitored regularly. Take iron rich food.
If all your vitals are normal & you still experience dizziness then you ought to visit an ENT, get your ears examined, get audiometry tests done to rule out Vertigo or any other developing pathology.
Take nutritious food rich in calcium, iron & minerals.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
