What Causes Severe Dizzy Spells After Taking Potassium Pills?

I have been taking a couple of medications for the past few months. One is Atenolol 1/2 daily. One is Potassium Cl Dr. The potassium started out as a white capsule, then clear then blue and now whit and orange. Since I started taking the white and orange capsule I have been having severe dizzy spells. I have a hard time walking without running into things. Can the medication be causing the dizzy spells? And why now after months of taking the potassium would it be doing this now?

Hi,

If your BP is normal and you are having dizzy spells after taking potassium capsule, then you are advised to get your potassium level checked. As a continuous supplementation might have caused an increase in blood potassium level. Due to increased potassium level, weakness and fatigue, a feeling of numbness and tingling may be there. It may also cause abnormal rhythm of heart and hence spells of dizziness some times. However, if your potassium level is normal, then you are advised to see your doctor about your symptoms.
