Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Severe Ear, Nose, And Eye Pain After Taking Motrin?
I had extensive dental work done last week on all my upper teeth. Lots of shots of novacaine. Five days later my ears, nose and eyes all hurt...like a sinus thing is going on. It s all accompanied by a headache. Motrin every six hours is helping. Could my sinuses just be inflamed? I have no nasal discharge. Thank you for answering this question for me.
I can understand your concern. Dental treatment has no relation with the sinus pain you have. It is just a co-incidence that you have got sinusitis after few days of extensive dental treatment.
As Ibuprofen is helping you, you can continue with that for pain relief and headache. In addition, you should start with decongestants that are available over the counter. Steam inhalation helps a lot to relieve the pressure of sinusitis. You can also start Levocetrizine 5 mg (Levocet) once a day for 5 days.
If you do not find any relief in 5 days, you should consult an ENT specialist for clinical examination and further investigations, if needed.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you feel better soon.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
