What Causes Severe Fatigue And Palpitations?

Should I be going into the ER? I ve had severe fatigue, exhaustion from basic stuff like washing my hair, heart arrhythmia and fast heartbeats, even when doing absolutely nothing and laying down, a constant minor fever, dehydration symptoms that escalate severely over a short period of time (1-2 hours) without liquid, dizziness and nausea, trouble walking in a straight line without crashing into something due to sudden balance shift. I m drinking gatorade and eating salty foods, trying to slow the dehydration, but it only helps a bit, and there s been absolutely no swelling or bloating, regardless of how much salt I eat. This has been going on at this severity for 2 weeks, but the symptoms started a couple months ago, just not this bad.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms of palpitations & severe fatigue after doing basic stuff is an indication of some developing coronary artery disease.

You are suggested to visit ER, get physically examined by a GP or a cardiologist & get CBC, Urinalysis, X-ray, ECG, Echocardiography, Lipid function tests, stress tests done.

Your treatment will be according to the cardiac or some other pathology detected & its severity. If diabetic, control your blood sugar levels.

Since you have abnormal heart rhythms (palpitations) it may cause balancing problems (other factors that may cause balance problems are congestive heart failure, anemia, diabetes, dehydration, thyroid disorders).

Taking Gatorade regularly may cause weight gain, obesity, raised blood sugar levels & poor diet. It may trigger your symptoms, do not take it on a regular basis.

Take nutritious diet, avoid oily food, do regular exercise & maintain a healthy weight.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
