What Causes Severe Foot Pain After Back Surgery?

I had back surgery about 18 months ago. A spinal fusion of L4/L5. I am still having severe pain from time to time in my left foot. Initially the doctor said it could go on for 12 months and then when a year had passed he said well sometime it takes longer maybe 18 months. It comes and goes but sometimes its very painful. What do you recommend?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Severe foot pain is not common at a period of 18 months post spine surgery. There must be definite neurological cause for such intense pain as nerve compression over lower spinal level or else. Kindly get a recent MRI of the lower spine and if available with results ,kindly take time to share with me at earliest so that better protocols can be curtailed out for the future actions of cure.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
