What Causes Severe Hair Fall And Greying While Treating Sepsis In Foot?

I have just recovered from an infection ( Sepsis ) in my foot, having cleverly stood on a rusty nail. During the course of treatment my hair suddenly started to fall out in handfuls. It has partially grown back but in pure white form. Is this due to some dietary problem or some other reason? Best Regards, Bob Schofield.

Hi,

This happens. Large metabolic effects have (temporary) effects on the body. You will notice a change (typically a thin band) in the nails also. Usually, it comes back but the grey is going to stay. the older/longer/darker hair falls first and the new greyer and thinner hair comes in.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
