Hello, and I hope I can help you today.

Your blood pressure normally gets very low when you are pregnant and if you cannot drink enough water you will feel dizzy, sweaty and faint sometimes, especially when you are standing and in the heat. The most important thing to help this is to drink enough liquids. If you are dizzy, drinking water is helpful, but adding a bit of juice to the water (apple juice is mild and easy to digest) will make it sweeter and give you more energy. You need to drink at least 8 glasses of liquid a day, especially if you live in a hot climate. Try to avoid being outside in the heat if you can, but if you have to, carry a bottle of liquid wherever you go so you don't get dehydrated. Also you should have small snacks constantly (like a small biscuit or crackers) to not have your stomach empty. Dry, starchy things are easiest to digest.

Taking Vitamin B6 has also been shown to help with nausea, as well as any products made from ginger (tea, soda, etc.)

If you feel so sick that you pass out, or are losing weight from not being able to eat and drink, you should see your prenatal care provider as there are medications that can help with this problem.

In the meantime, stay out of the heat, drink lots of liquids, and I hope you feel better and best of luck with the pregnancy.

Regards, Dr. Brown
