What Causes Severe Headache And Neck Pain After Receiving Fentanyl Shot?

Hi, I just found out two days ago that I have a kidney infection. I went to the doctor and she prescribed me some antibiotics, she also gave me a shot of fentanyl for the pain. However I woke up this morning with a pounding headache and sharp pains running up my neck every time that I move. I can t even lay my head on a pillow without it feeling like my head is going to explode. Is this normal or should I go back to the doctor in the morning?

Hi,

As a first line management you can take analgesics like Paracetamol or Aceclofenac for pain relief. If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopedics and get evaluated. wishing all the best.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
