My 19 y/o daughter has been ill for weeks. Her symptoms began with severe headaches, unvanquished with oxy; neck pain with nausea and chills with no fever. Neg non-con CT Brain in ED in Seattle area; neg lumbar puncture for meningitis. Pt is NOT a drug user or alcohol user. Now she continues with chills, not febrile, sore throat with worsening nausea, painful diarrhea and severe headaches. She is not able to get up and go out due to weakness and h/a, nausea-diarrhea.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for your query.
Based on her symptoms, I would like to rule out aseptic meningitis, venous and arterial thrombus .

I recommend :
- a physician, neurologist, neurosurgeon consult.
-an MRI of the brain with venogram and angiogram to check for insufficiency and blocks.
Small tumors.which cause similar symptoms can also be picked up.
- CT scan of the abdomen to look for anyass it Tuberculous lesions
-blood tests (complete blood count, Erythrocyte sedimentation rate, c-reactive protein, electrolyte levels, kidney and liver function tests.
-if all scan are negative and there are no signs if Increased intracranial pressure, aseptic meningitis should be suspected.
This usually resolves itself with symptomatic management alone

However, diarrhea needs to be treated adequately with fluids and electrolytes.

Please seek medical attention right away.
Hope this helps and she feels better soon.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
I find this answer helpful
