What Causes Severe Headache, Vomiting And Pulsating Pain?

Hi, For the last week I have had a bearable headache. Yesterday became very bad and I began to vomit. Headache eased over night but is still there. The pain is frontal and kind of pulsating. No weakness to light. Today my back / hip muscles have been aching it feels as if I m all disjointed (related or not I don t know). Do you have any advice?

Hi,

Do you have any such history in the past? Any history of migraine in family? Any fever or visual disturbances? Severe headache that is pulsatile, with vomiting can suggest migraine, especially if the pain is more on one side, and there is associated visual disturbances.

Try taking acetaminophen/ibuprofen 3 times a day after food for 3 days. Have adequate sleep, drink lot of fluids and avoid caffeinated items, alcohol and smoking. This will relieve mild moderate migraine attacks. Associated body pain also will respond to this, although I am not sure whether it is related.

If symptoms are not getting down in 2-3 days, or if there is associated fever, kindly consult your doctor without further delay for evaluation

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
