What Causes Severe Headache When Diagnosed With Breast Cancer?

I have had a pain in my ear and my lower jaw on and off for almost two years My Dentist takes X-rays and says it s nothing, my primary looks in my ear and says it s not red but fluid is present . I wait go back they give me an antibiotic and it gets a little better then it comes back. I started getting fluttering in my chest and was told its unrelated. I was diagnosed in February with breast cancer and during the course of my chemo treatments I was given antibiotics for a blood infection (after every chemo treatment) the pain in my ear, my lower jaw and my heart fluttering all went away. I was told (by a coworker) that I probably have a bacterial infection in my jaw that has carried to the fluid around my heart . Since my dentist has told me over and over that it is not my teeth after taking X-rays, what specialist would I go to for this and what test would be done. It is giving me headaches and I don t want to mess with this if my coworker is right.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

From your description I can understand the situation you are in. I think the pain in your jaw may have been caused by metastatic nodules from breast cancer. I would advise you to consult an oral-maxillo-facial surgeon regarding this and have a x-ray jaw and FDG-PET-scan done if possible.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ashish Ranjan, General & Family Physician
