What Causes Severe Headache?

I have been experiencing sudden bursts of intense migraine type pain in the top of my head. Initially, it lasted seconds, but now last as much as several minutes to an hour and happens as much as three to eight times per hour. I am really tired and generally blah. Upon further assessment, the top of my skull is quite soft and I have not hit my head
