Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Severe Headaches Along With Stiffness In The Neck And Back?
I am having severe headaches and migraines. I am also experiencing back pain and stiffness in my neck and back. The migraines are making me sensitive to light, sound and cold. I am constantly tired and nauseated. I attributed each symptom to whatever made sense. But, now they are all hitting me at once. I looked up my symptoms and it said that I may have meningitis. I am scared because I have two small children.
Hi, Don't be scared, we shall deal with what you are going now. Though neck stiffness is a sign of meningitis, there are other symptoms like high fever that accompanies it. In your case it might also be due to your migraine headache. The information regarding migraine treatment is not mentioned. Are you taking any medications to prevent migraine headaches? If not there are many medications available to prevent the attacks of migraine. Medications like propranolol, flunarizine and others are used in the such conditions. Now, I would recommend you to consult your doctor as soon as possible to get evaluated about the neck stiffness. If meningitis is ruled out, discuss about the medications for preventing migraine as discussed above.
