What Causes Severe Headaches And Palpitations?

Hi, so I have been experiencing increasingly severe headaches for the past 8 months and heart palpitations. I am always feeling anxious and paranoid and I get very pale and sweaty. I have also lost 30 pounds in a 5 month period. And sometimes I get stomach cramps and abdominal cramping.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

There are several causes for headache with palpitations. Hypertension (or high BP) can present as headaches with the long term effects on the heart presenting as palpitations.

If these symptoms you describe occur intermittently, one could argue the presence of a Pheochromocytoma (an adrenaline secreting irregularity in the adrenal glands) this can be easily diagnosed on the basis of lab investigations.

On the other hand, repeated anxiety attacks may be suggestive of panic attack disorder or anxiety disorder.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan
