Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my daughter who is 16y/o had her left pupil dilate for several hours x 3 days, she then started to experience headaches throughout the day, light sensitivity and is now having continuous headaches, more light and sound sensitivity and feels disoriented. we had her eye checked out 2 x and nothing appeared wrong, we went to the pediatrician and have an apt on Monday with a neurologist but wondering what could causing these disturbing symptoms?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Photophobia, dilate pupils with a chronic headache etcetera are more suggestive of brain pathologies. So, it is better to consult a neurologist and get done the clinical examination and MRI brain.
She might be having meningitis, compression on optic nerve or any space occupying lesion (SOL). Therefore, MRI brain is must for the accurate diagnosis.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Kaushal Bhavsar
