Hello. 64 year old 5 11 male 190 lbs. My dentist prescribed Clindamycin 300 mg as a precautionary after a tooth extraction...After two days; It has given me severe heartburn and diarrhea. Hi,

Tablet clindamycin can cause heartburn and diarrhoea in some persons. it's proven side effect in some individuals. So that's what happening to you.

You can switch over to Amoxicillin but you have to take antibiotics because, after tooth extraction, it's common that infection occurs. so continue any antibiotics and do follow up of your doctor as per advice.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nirav Nimavat, General & Family Physician
