Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Severe Heartburn, Diarrhea And Blood-tinged Stools?
I have been having stomach issues for a few months. I have had severe heart burn, but that seems to be a little better since my doc increased the omeprezole. I have several bowel movements a day, usually very loose, sometimes its normal colored, sometimes green, sometimes dark and today even had a red tinge that kind of ran down the toilet off of the stool. I feel tired quite often as well.
The normal brown color of stool is due to changes that occur to the bile as the stool passes along the intestines. If a person is passing stool frequently then the bile does not have the time to undergo changes and the stool can appear green.
The red tinge would be blood and this means that you should be checked.
Blood in the stool can be due to different causes such as: infection, hemorrhoids, benign growths in the colon, cancer, diverticular disease
If you have not had imaging of the colon eg colonoscopy, then this may need to be done
I hope this helps
