What Causes Severe Hip Pain At The Site Of Injection?

Hi, I received three IM injections in my hip a week ago and have noticed numbness by the site. There is no tingling, redness, infection or any signs it s getting better - - except it hurts to lay on that side. It s a combination of any two of the three: Ativan, zofran and tordol. The fellow administering it didn t know which was zofran or tordol as the nurse gave the Ativan. I have a strong 10 year history of patient care and am not sure how worried I should be. Please advise.

Hello,

The pain you feel on the site of injection is due to 3 IM injections you had at that side of your hip. Great there is no other complication like redness, nor infection.

You can apply alternating warm and cold compresses on the painful injection site.

However, if still no improvement, to put your mind at ease, you can consult with your caring doctor.

All the best.
