What Causes Severe Intermittent Stomach Pains And Nausea After Naproxen Withdrawal?
I was taking naproxen for a severe contusion on my thoracic spine. I stopped taking it almost one week ago and I have severe intermittent stomach pains and nausea. I am also taking vicodin for pain so that I can keep ambulatory. I don t know if the nausea is from the Vicodin or left over from Naproxen. I am wondering how long these side effects are going to last and what I can do about them. Honestly the side effects are worse than the pain from the contusion.
The side effects of naproxen includes stomach pain and nausea however the effects wean off in 2 to 3 days' time of stopping the drug. I suppose the side effects which you are facing may be due to Vicodin. I advise you to get it changed to some other pain killer by the treating doctor. You may try paracetamol which is available over the counter and has fewer side effects.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Anoop Kumar, General & Family Physician
