What Causes Severe Itchiness All Over The Body After Taking Atorvastatin?
hi, my name is Jackie, I take Atorvastatin and have noticed my body is itchy, like a stinging itch, for the last 6 weeks. I stopped taking this drug 4 days ago and have noticed a slight improvement in the itch. I have taken this for the last 12 months or so, so why is it suddenly causing trouble or do you think something else is happening?

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of severe itchiness all over the body after taking Atorvastatin. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like dermatitis, bug bite, eczema, systemic pathology, allergic reaction and side effects of drug as you also mention in query . I would suggest you to drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated , keep yourself away from the allergens like dust , dog and cat fur and continue taking antihistamine like zyrtec or benadryl . If condition doesn't get better the consult dermatologist for proper examination and cardiologist who prescribed atorvastatin . Doctor may order blood test , allergy test and physical examination. Doctor may prescribe immunosuppressants along with corticosteroid ointment or antibiotics like clindamycin .
