Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I THINK i have an yeast infection i never had one before i am 44 years old healthy do not smoke nor drink and i am not sexually active.I took the over the counter test. I dont have a STD although I cant stop the itching nor thick leakage.I have an appointment with my OBGYN in a week but I dont think I will last....What should I do?
Hello, Thanks for the query. The you are describing, it appears to be mostly candida albicans infection. Is there thick discharge along with itching? Usually Tablet Fluconazole 150 mg once a week for weeks is given as a treatment to cure that infection. There is no mention whether you have diabetes, because in that condition fungal infections tend to occur more often, particularly if the blood glucose levels are not in control. You may weight till you meet the gynecologist or if the above medicine is available then that can be taken. Thanks
