Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Severe Itchiness In The Vagina After Periods While Treating PCOS?
I have PCOS and for the last 3 months my periods have been regular but a week after period I get acute vaginal itching-. No discharge or smell, and not similar to thrush as I ve had this before. It is just external drives me crazy never experienced before. I m 44.
Considering these symptoms it may be caused by STD if there was recent intercourse. Other causes include is decreased levels of estrogen. If premarin is not helping then it can be related to decreased levels of Vitamin B12 or a mild nerve root compression at the level of sacral spine. Keeping the area moisturized with peanut butter will also help.
You can also start taking methylcobalaminsupplements and see if it helps. Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow-up queries that you have. If there is no improvement, get swab test and it is fungus, take vaginal pessary and oral intake of fluconazole. Keep the area dry and clean. Avoid excessive use of soap.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
