What Causes Severe Itching After Insertion Of A Stent In The Bile Duct?
My husband is suffering with extreme itching following a stent inserted in the main bile duct. How long does this last? He was told to take Benedryl and Atarax for the constant itching. What can I give him or have him do to help control the itching? He is threatening to harm himself if he cannot get some relief. YYYY@YYYY

Hi,
It may be due to biliary obstruction. Do a liver function test to check whether the bilirubin is high or not. As of now antihistamines like Pheneramine can be taken for symptomatic relief.
