What Causes Severe Itching All Over The Body While On BP Medication?

I am experiencing extreme itching over most of my body. It is almost impossible not to scratch. I have high blood pressure, which is under control, and I take the following medications. Amlodipine Furosemide Levothyroxine (for hypothyroidism, (also under control) Could my medications or combination of medications be causing this problem? I greatly appreciation your help.

Hello,

Cannot say in your particular case, but generally, allergic reactions would indeed be all over. Oddly enough, even thyroid medicine can cause this, and certainly, the other medicines can.

All of them can be replaced. So, typically one would stop all of them, try alternatives if needed and see if the itching goes away which it should promptly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Matt Wachsman, Addiction Medicine Specialist
