Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
For the past few weeks i have intermittant symptoms of itching and irritation in the anal area. I m always very careful keeping clean and always wipe with personal wipes after having a stool. My stools are always soft and not difficult. Today has been espcially difficult with burning and irritation. I have preparation H cream, A&D ointment and even Lidocaine 4% cream to get me through the weekend. I do not feel an external hemmorrhoid however, the last stool did have blood on it. Is there anything else I can do for this till I m seen. Sorry, this is difficult to discuss.
You've been using medications for hemorrhoids, and I do think this is the most likely cause for your symptoms.
With the blood this may indicate you have hemorrhoids internally where you can't feel them. Besides what you're already doing, the only other thing I can think of before you are seen is something called a sitz bath, you can buy one or you can make one yourself by filling up a bath with warm water and adding 1/4 cup of salt, and soaking in the bath for 15-30 minutes, 2-3 times a day. This has significantly helped many patients, so I would recommend giving it a try.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
