A few weeks ago with the onset of ragweed season, my eyes began itching terribly, I currently take allergen pill everyday but does not seem to help with the eye itching. So I have itched my eyelids so the point on having some flakey skin right along the lash line on the upper eyelid. Is there any type of cream that I can safely use to help Soothe it? I currently swab the eyelid with saline solution.
An irritating substance (called an allergen) — such as pollen, dust and animal dander — causes the release of compounds called histamines in the tissues around the eyes, which results in itching, redness and swelling.
Rubbing won't help your itchy eyes. Seasonal allergies cause what's known as allergic conjunctivitis.
Wash your face. Washing your face is one of the first things you should do to combat itchy, swollen eyes, says Ogbogu.
Rinse out the eyes. Meet a good ophthalmologist immediately. Apply a cold compress.
Try allergy eye drops. Take oral medications or get allergy shots. Stay indoors.
