General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Severe itching in the urethra is indicative of non-gonococcal urethritis. It may be UTI. You are suggested to get Urinalysis (C/S & R/E) done. Get tested for Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae.

You will be treated with a course of antibiotics & anti inflammatory medicines. You should get your wife examined & get required tests done.

Both partners when treated together show better results. She will need a course of anti fungals (fluconazole).

Do not scratch, take proper care of your personal hygiene. Avoid sex for a couple of days. You can apply Hydrocortisone ointment / cream or miconazole cream in the affected area for relieve.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K
