What s causing my legs/arms to itch? its not continuous but when I start itching it s almost like I can t stop. My skin with burn and feel itchy the more I scratch. I ve had the shingle vaccine. Tried antihistamines. I m a 65 year old free ale, borderline diabetic. I take 10mg of lisinapril, 25 mg hydrochloride (M-W-F) and 100mg of sentroid for thyroid Thanks
At your age of 65 years, dryness of the skin is very common and this can cause severe itching. So better to keep your skin moisturized. Drink plenty of fluids orally and keep yourself hydrated.
Take antihistamine drug-like levocetirizine or fexofenadine for itching. You can also apply mometasone cream on Itchy areas.
Don't worry, you will be alright with all these. If not improving after 1-2 weeks then consult a dermatologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Kaushal Bhavsar, Pulmonologist
