What Causes Severe Itchy Hives On Hands?

I ve gotten severe itching without rash or hives on my hands from last two gammaked infusions. Is it dangerous? I have ten drug allergies already. First time I didn t c connect it to the infusion because it started about half an hour after and lasted about three hours. Last time it started about twenty minutes before the infusion was done. I was given benedryl and it went away immediately.

Hi,

Gammaked infusion is an intravenous immunoglobulin that is used in the treatment of CIDP, PI, Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) etc. But like other medications this medication has some side effects of its own.

It may cause some symptoms of allergic reactions such as rashes or hives, itching, swelling of face, lips, tongue, throat, eyes, hands or feet, breathing difficulties, wheezing, dizziness, feeling of passing out. Antihistamines like Benadryl is the treatment of choice here in case of such allergic reactions. In severe cases, corticosteroids also may be needed.
