What Causes Severe Itchy Skin After Flea Infestation?

Last summer we had a flea infestation in our house but nothing (fortunately) this year. However, for the last couple of months I have been itching like mad. Could be something related to that or perhaps the body cream or soap, lotion, etc? thank you David

Hello,

It looks like you should clean your house thoroughly. Employ a steam cleaner for carpets and upholstery, wash all bedding and clothes in hot water. You can sprinkle salt at suspected places where the flea breed to stop the spread. Take care of your hygiene. Wear cotton clothes.

Do not scratch. Wash the bites with antiseptic soap. To stop the itching apply hydrocortisone ointment or calamine lotion(or Soframycin cream). Take non sedating antihistamines for relieve. Application of ice effectively gives relieve.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
