What Causes Severe Jaw Pain While On Treatment For Metastasized Prostate Cancer?
my husband has severe jaw (upper right) pain and have taken 2 naproxen @ 10pmand 2 acetemetephine at 11 pm and 1-500 mg ibuprofen at 1 am with no relief. he is being treated for metastasized prostate cancer. he has necrosis of the jaw (left lower) What can I do?
It looks like Osteonecrosis of his jaw that is the cause of pain.. So my suggestion is to consult an Emergency room and get him prescribed with higher painkillers like narcotic painkillers [tramadol, hydrocodone etc] for pain relief..
As the necrosis can continue to progress therefore, you should consult an Oral Surgeon and get him evaluated with proper x rays and an MRI scan should be done..
The necrotic area of the jaw can be debrided followed by jaw reconstructive surgery if he is suitable for it after a thorough evaluation.
Hope this helps..
Regards..
